The Trakstand started as a request from the chief mechanic of the Ireland Track and Road Teams, Sandy Gilchrist, who was looking for a lightweight (730g), folding bike stand, that was compact, sturdy and easy to store. As a bonus feature of the design, the Trakstand is modular and is able to link up with other Trakstands so that any number of bikes can be supported in a row.
The Trakstand has been used by the team at cycling events around the World, including the 2016 Olympics in Rio and the 2018 Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast.
To help bring the Trakstand into full production, we launched a crowd funding project on Kickstarter that, unfortunately, was unsuccessful. However, a sufficient number of our backers had faith in the Trakstand and continued to support us, to the extent that we were able to get it into production anyway.
